Do you know why the sky is blue?

So i watched "My Sassy Girl" for the 4th time. Its a Korean Movie with english subtitles and its a wonderfully hilarious movie. Jun Ji-Hyun, in the role of the girl, whose name is never mentioned in the movie, is very wonderful and Chae Tae-Hyun in the role of Gyeon Woo is equally delightful and especially when he gives those dumb looks, is very funny to watch.
An excerpt from the movie: (my favorite scene and perhaps the best scene in the movie)
Girl: Do you know why the sky is blue?
Gyeon Woo: Because of the reflection of the sun
Girl: NO, its because of me, I want it to be blue, so its blue
Girl: DO you know why fire is hot? Its all for me, I want it to be hot, so its hot.
Girl: Do you know why we have 4 seasons in Korea?
Boy: For you
Girl: Yeah!

To really understand the humor in the dialogue, one should watch the movie...OK, it gets a bit sentimental in the end, with the girl hiding her pain in her heart and so not being able to love the guy because she cannot get over her dead boyfriend. But overall this movie is very wonderful and worth a watch.
Somehow, it has happened that the best movies I have watched in recent times have all been asian movies. I am thinking Ong Bak and My Girl (fan Chan in Thai) (Thai movies) and Shaolin Soccer, KungFu Hustle, House of Flying daggers and Warriors of Heaven and Earth (Chinese movies). And I also heard My Sassy Girl is going to be remade in English by Gurinder Chadha (!). But I feel that the movie is too good and its remake can never be as wonderful as the original.
To the above list I can also add Ringu and Ju-On, the two Japanese movies which inspired The Ring and Grudge respectively. I have seen the originals and the remakes and I can assure you that the remakes are not as good as the originals. Ju-On really gave me the creeps. But then one can also say that more people would know about the original if it were remade, but by Gurinder Chadha, now that would be an injustice. I am not undermining her as a director, after all she gave us Bend it like Beckham. but I think Ang Lee would have done a better job. But maybe, this is not his forte, this romantic comedy thing. Lets see how the movie truns out and then maybe after all I might have to change my views. I really hope that it does change my view.
Finally, I have registered with blogarama so I can get some people to view my blog.

2nd of July Part1

when you are drunk, its 4 in the morning and u r not sleepy there's always one thing u can do, smoke a cigarette and contemplate... well, smoking i am but contemplating, no, cos i am not that drunk.
so, there was a party again, this time in the mess..didnt feel like drinking, so stopped at 2. danced a bit but the fun was in watching people do some crazy shit....
in fact the whole day was full of events cos i watched 4 movies during the day, and two in the cinema hall on the trot..... total waste of time.... War of the Worlds and Sarkar... the story about the movies next time.
this time about the party... its fun to see people drunk and when they c(r)ash in when a couple are dancing ... especially RG and Q had a whole lot of trouble finding a place and 5 minutes to dance with each other.then it was RG again who was literally stalking NR...then there were KR and JS who were following DD around wherever she was going to.

of course there are some characters who do the craziest things when they are drunk, like SB who suddenly goes gay when he is drunk, takes off his shirt and dances with the guys.... people are of course wary of him.. in the college he is known as the person with the 7 inch d***.. this is what he said when he gave his introduction to the batchmates "Hi! my name is SB and i have a 7 inch d***" other than him, there are characters who are much better when watched and not described...

its always a fun party in the mess, drunk or not...
about the movies in the next post...
movies watched (in order)
Bunty aur babli (2 in the morning)
House of flying Daggers (11.30)
War of the worlds (6.30)
Sarkar (9.30)

Of parties and songs..

Today was the hostel party that we gave to the juniors. It was fun only until we did some small bit of ragging of juniors. The sad part was that when asked which girl from our batch thwey liked the most, many replied that they liked this particular girl whom i will call 35 (no, its not her size, its one tshirt that she wears the most.)... apparently they had never heard her talking ... oh! her voice.. its so melodious one will have bad dreams abt that for a few days and they will be frequently reminded of frankenstein movies. anyways the party has come out to be a cropper just because we are in this hostel which is considered to b the "dude" hostel, and so generally the hopes were high... but none of the fucking junies drink man... and they somehow they seem to be the party-averse kinda people, sooo sad..

all of a sudden, in the evening my mind got twisted and i started listening to old sad mukesh songs... considering my standard in the hostel as the loud music listening person, they were asking me if i was ok and all... and in the party when i was swooning to floyd, one person even came to and said, this is the me he knows...

our classes in the month of july are so intermittent that somedays we have only one class statring from 8.30 in the night and somedays we have classes from 7 to 7.... this visiting faculty thing is so fucked up, sometimes there is only one subject going on and u dont even feel like doing anything abt tht also...

Have decided to learn swedish (atleast the basics)....will post atleast 5 words in each post....

On the contrary

Hi, first I will introduce myself. But i want to remain anonymous. So I will tell you only that much which is required. I am doing my MBA from a reputed institute in India. But I wont divulge the name of the institute cos there have been instances in this place where some senile profs have searched through the blogs of students to find some contentious issues n then have reported to the management. Luckily, nothing serious happened but then, why take a chance?

So, today I had classes beginning from 7.30 in the morning... but due to the hangover from last night couldnt attend the class. Went at 9.30 to attend the second part. Man, that guy is fast. But, i have been able to understand most of whatever he has taught, only thing being, i have to read upon the theory and practise the numerical parts. Later on in the evening, i had another class, this time regarding banking. The first thing the prof did was take a quiz. Thats what I hate about some profs. Taking unannounced quizzes. But, whatever announced or surprise, I never go prepared for any class. Who cares?

But the best learning of the day didnt come from classes and neither was it regarding any subject. It was about my life in general. This is a strange place for me, even though one year has passed. I havent been able to identufy a single group to which I can belong to. I try and make myself believe that it doesnt matter. but the truth is that it does matter for me. Sometimes, when I have nothing to do(like now, not that i dont have anything to do, have to study for the two classes tomorrow), I always keep wondering whether I will be able to take any meaningful relationship from here! i learned that how hard i may try to mingle with groups, i will always remain an outsider. Maybe I didnt try hard enough. But, well, whatever, nevermind.

Whenever the word nevermind (or is that two words?) comes to my mind, I always think about Kurt Cobain. Recently, I read the book Heavier than Heaven, a biography of Cobain. It is very nicely written. I am not a critic, so I may not be able to tell if a book is really good or not. But I thought that the author has done some really nice research and the book provides good insights into the life of Cobain. i would suggest this book to anyone who is a fan of Nirvana.
So long for now, I can hear loud music from the nearby room. Maybe, another drinking session is going to start. lemme see....
